The Poor Knights of Christ is a historical reenactment and educational society committed to the accurate, respectful, and scholarly portrayal of a pivotal period in medieval history. Our mission is to preserve and interpret the past with integrity, ensuring that our activities contribute meaningfully to public understanding of historical events, cultures, and traditions.
In light of recent public discourse surrounding contemporary political movements, including but not limited to Reform UK and Britain First, the Poor Knights of Christ wishes to reaffirm its position with clarity and formality:
* The Poor Knights of Christ is entirely non‑political.
We do not endorse, support, or align ourselves with any modern political party, organisation, or ideological movement. Our work is rooted exclusively in historical study and representation.
* The Poor Knights of Christ is a multi‑religious and inclusive group.
Our membership reflects a wide range of faiths, beliefs, and personal backgrounds. We welcome individuals without regard to religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, or personal identity. Diversity within our group strengthens our understanding of history and enriches our shared purpose.
* The Poor Knights of Christ rejects all forms of discrimination.
We stand firmly against racism, sectarianism, xenophobia, and any misuse of historical imagery or symbolism to promote prejudice or division. Our historical portrayals are conducted with respect for all communities, past and present.
* The Poor Knights of Christ is dedicated to historical authenticity and educational value.
Our activities, displays, and reenactments are designed to inform, engage, and inspire. We do not reinterpret or distort history to serve modern agendas. Instead, we strive to present the past with accuracy, nuance, and cultural sensitivity.
As custodians of historical interpretation, we recognise the responsibility that accompanies the use of medieval symbols, narratives, and identities. We therefore distance ourselves unequivocally from any contemporary group or individual seeking to appropriate historical themes for political, extremist, or discriminatory purposes.
The Poor Knights of Christ remains committed to fostering an environment of learning, respect, and community. Our focus is — and will always be — the study and portrayal of history, undertaken with professionalism, inclusivity, and honour.
